Since, or rather while putting the finishing touches to Paper in the Cracks, which has now gone out to several agents, (fingers crossed…) I have written, or rather rewritten a short story, which has itself also been sent on its way.
I have a couple of free days, not thinking of writing anything at all, but lots has been happening. The new writing group at Trinity Church, North Finchley, launches on September 12th. 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm. 15, Nether Street. Please contact me if you are interested. One group is close to full, but if there is enough interest, I will run two fortnightly groups – just the way I did in Manchester.
Last night I saw Garry, the old/new play by Sophie Treadwell, at the White Bear, in Kennington. A play written in 1954, tackling (said the programme,) the suppression of women, non-romanticised prostitution, and the stigma of homosexuality. Directed by Graham Watts. Like many fringe venues the White Bear is tiny. Watching an intense scene when you are a yard away from it can be delightfully gripping.
